My hair has always been in limbo. When I was born I had super curly hair, like my sister Jenny. After a haircut that was too short (chopping off all of my curls), my hair became super straight. Now as a *gulp* adult, my hair has a crazy wave to it. So my random thought is this: You know how you can put clothes in the dryer and it comes out wrinkle free? Isn't there some way you could do the same for hair? That would be AWESOME!

Let's Try This Again...
I just read my last blog post (which was over a year and a half ago) and I couldn't help but laugh. I am HORRIBLE at keeping my blogs up-to-date! That is of course, unless they are for school assignments. Then I am all over that! So, let's try this blogging thing AGAIN!
I went to Elder D. Todd Christofferson's CES Broadcast tonight and it was absolutely wonderful! His words were exactly what I needed to hear tonight. This week is going to be a rough time for me and my family because the anniversary of my dad's passing away is this Thursday. When I came home from last year's January CES Broadcast, my dad had a heart attack in his and my mom's bedroom. It was the most horrible experience I've ever had to endure. I felt so helpless. Help couldn't come fast enough. Making phone calls to family members was painful. The words "Code Blue" made me cry so much because I knew that my dad had gone into cardiac arrest. Again. And Again. I would relive that night over and over in my sleep for months.
Today, I expected this week to automatically be horrible because of the events that happened last year. But because of Elder Christofferson's words, I know everything will be okay:
"Whenever you're feeling bad, hang in there.
Don't look ahead at the pain, just get through the day."
Every time I hear a male church leader speak such comforting words, I think of my Heavenly Father or my dad saying them to me, wanting to embrace me and make everything all better. I know I just have to take this week one day at a time and not dread the negative but embrace the positive. I am so thankful for the gospel in my life and the wonderful people that surround me. I wouldn't be who I am without them!
Favorite quotes from tonight's fireside:
"It is day by day that we make our plans for the future. It is day by day that we improve our imperfections."
"We need to ask day by day to become what we must become."
"Hope is an anchor to the souls of men."
"The Lord is pleased with daily effort, even the tiny ones that help us become more like him."
